Questions

Selling Crops in Tanzania: Farmer FAQs

How does Global Agrichain pay farmers?
Payment terms are agreed before collection. We pay promptly on verified delivery, using mobile money or bank transfer depending on the arrangement. We do not hold payment after delivery without prior agreement.
Do I need to be part of a cooperative to sell to Global Agrichain?
No. We buy from individual farmers and farmer groups as well as cooperatives. However, if you are a member of an AMCOS cooperative, buying through the cooperative can simplify the process and sometimes improves the terms available to you.
What quality standards do my crops need to meet?
Quality requirements depend on the commodity and the buyer we are supplying. Our team will discuss grade, moisture content, and presentation requirements with you before the buying season. We generally grade at the point of collection and pay accordingly. For more detail, see our Inspection and Certifications page.
Can Global Agrichain help me get inputs before the season?
Yes. We supply TOSCI-certified seeds and fertilizers through our agricultural inputs network, distributed through agro-dealers at ward level. Contact us or register above to find out what is available in your region and season.
What crops does Global Agrichain buy from farmers?
We buy maize, rice, coffee (Arabica and Robusta), beans, chickpeas, pigeon peas, and livestock products. Availability and pricing depend on the season and your region. Register above or contact us to confirm what we are currently buying in your area.
Which regions of Tanzania do you buy crops from?
We buy from farmers across Tanzania, including the Southern Highlands, Lake Zone, Northern Zone, and Central regions. Our team coordinates collection logistics based on your location. If you are unsure whether we buy in your area, contact us and we will confirm.
Do you provide seeds or fertilizer on credit before the season?
Our standard process is commercial supply through our agro-dealer network. We do not currently operate a formal input credit programme, but we may be able to discuss arrangements for established farmer groups and cooperatives. Contact our team to discuss your situation.
What happens if my crop does not meet the required quality?
If your crop does not meet the target grade, we will explain the issue and, where possible, offer an adjusted price for the lower grade. We grade at the point of collection so there are no surprises after delivery. Our team can also advise on post-harvest handling to help you meet quality standards next season.
Can I sell small quantities or do you only buy in bulk?
We buy from individual farmers as well as cooperatives and aggregators. There is no strict minimum volume, but the economics of collection work better for both sides when quantities are at least a few bags. If you are a smallholder with a modest harvest, consider aggregating with neighbouring farmers or through your local cooperative.
